Carpet beetle larvae – fuzzy, brown/tan, elongated
Cockroach nymphs – darker, faster moving, different body shape
Spider egg sacs – white, round, silky
Just debris – fabric fibers, crumbs, pet hair
Booklice – tiny, pale, very small

✅ Step 1: Don’t Panic
Even if they ARE bed bugs, remember: they’re a nuisance, not a health emergency. They don’t transmit diseases. Take a deep breath – we’ll figure this out together.
✅ Step 2: Get Proper Identification
Take clear photos with good lighting and something for scale (like a coin or ruler)
Contact a licensed pest control professional for identification – many offer free inspections
Your local cooperative extension office can often help identify insects
You can also show photos to your veterinarian if you have pets (they see all sorts of bugs!)
✅ Step 3: Inspect Thoroughly (But Carefully)
Check these areas:
All seams, cracks, and crevices of the sofa
Under cushions and along zippers
The frame and legs of the furniture
Nearby baseboards and carpet edges
Your mattress seams and box spring (if applicable)
Look for:
Live bugs
Dark fecal spots
Tiny white eggs
Shed skins (they molt as they grow)
Blood stains on fabric
